Good People in Good Projects - Darin Wagner, Balmoral Resources and Abzu Gold

My best investments have come from finding relatively low market capitalisation companies associated with successful mining mangers, geologists and key investors.
Of course previous success offers no guarantees in exploration, and maybe they just got lucky the first time, but we might presume that the best projects attract the best people.
Reading around many of the links on this site you should find reference to many of these companies and individuals

DARIN WAGNER

Previous Success :
Merged / Sold  West Timmins Mining (WTM) to Lakeshore gold (LSG.TO) for $424 (300?)m in August 2009 after great discovery. 83m @ 12.75g/T

Interview here
Lakeshore is still a very interesting stock to me because of this.
It has had difficulties moving into production (2011) and valuation has fallen considerably but is an emerging producer with growing reserves and with an enormous 112sqkm land holding for exploration.
LSG have also reached an agreement with Revolution (RV.TO), see below, to explore their Mexican properties which came from the WTM acquisition and were well regarded.
Details of the option agreement here - and final here and Peter Megaw (of MAG silver fame) discussing - raving about -  one of the properties here.
LSG has been strongly rumoured as a Goldcorp buyout target and is in "their patch"
The Timmins gold camp appears to be heating up again (Jan 2012). I shall refer to another stock in this area below (SXR)

What Is Darin Wagner Doing Now?
The Business Week website shows a large number of board level associations with interesting junior gold miners and explorers.

His major focus appears to be growing Balmoral Resources (BAR.V) along the Detour Gold Trend where large packages of land have been acquired aswell as other projects. This stock is one of Canaccord's 2012 watch list I am a keen holder of this stock.

He is also a director at another interesting company in Ghana Africa Abzu Gold (ABS.v) which is AGAIN one of Canaccord's 2012 watch list picks and featured stock at Equedia from some time ago (see links under gold or dust heading) with International Tower Hill and Corvus Director- Jeff Pontius

In Mexico he is a Director at Candente Gold (CDG.TO) which has an option from Goldcorp to explore deeper levels of a previous mine, the theory of "gold left behind" by older mining methods.

What are other Directors of the former West Timmins Mining Doing Now ?
At West Kirkland Mining (WKM) another interesting company. Will update more here....
